Gurl! That Ain't Cute

“Gurl! That Ain’t Cute, Education is Cute” (2012)-The purpose of the program, is designed to aid in the reduction of adverse social and physical behavioral cycles such as: avoidance of tobacco and substance abuse, risky sexual behavior, sexually transmitted diseases, sexual identity, teen pregnancy, abuse, sexual assault/molestation, mental health, academic failure/termination and avoiding harm and violence among youths from childhood to young adulthood.

A multilevel approach will be taken to support the promotion of constructive youth development, independent living, career and personal planning, interpersonal and personal growth development such as self-regulation, bonding, resilience, competence, self-determination, self-worth, self-love, spirituality, self-efficacy, positive identity, belief in the future, recognition for positive behavior, opportunities for pro-social involvement, and pro-social norms.

This program will address these real life issues and situations by breaking down the causes and consequences of the dangers of risky behaviors by fusing street smarts, academics, media, and real life testimonies from an African American woman who overcame childhood sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, jail, high school dropout, teen pregnancy, poverty, promiscuity, and self-destruction.
